In today’s blog post, we wanted to outline Edmonton’s largest builder’s tradeshow and conference for the construction, renovation, architecture, interior design and property management industries: BUILDEX Edmonton, produced by Informa.

Just how large is the event? BUILDEX Edmonton attracts over 150 exhibits, more than 35 educational seminars and over 2,500 attendees annually, and Hamdon is happy to attend each year.

Why Should You Attend BUILDEX Edmonton?

2,500 attendees, 2 days, 1 roof:

You’ll be joined by over 2,500 industry professionals for 2 full days of professional development, with plenty of opportunities to network. It’s also an opportunity to discover hundreds of local products or services that your company could benefit from, all under one roof.

There will be an industry networking reception on Tuesday, March 20th, between 3-4PM paired with a complimentary wine or beer.

35 educational seminars, 50+ speakers:

With 35+ educational seminars (which can go towards your annual educational credits) and 50+ speakers, there’s something for every industry professional.

Here are just a few of the seminar topics:

  • Architecture
  • Interior Design
  • Sustainable Building
  • Business Development

Check out the program for Day 1 and Day 2.

Note: there will be forms on hand which you will need to fill out in order to obtain the educational credits.

Here’s two keynotes we’re excited about:

Dr. John E. Taylor: Engineering Smart Cities: The Power of IoT, Data and Digital Twinning
Approaching the problem through a case study, Dr. Taylor will look at a digital twin of the City of Atlanta, if it were a smart city. He’ll show how spatio-temporal information within a city can be collected from and enabled through the connectivity offered by the Internet of Things (IoT) and virtualization.

Thomas Mueller: The Buildings of the Future are Zero Carbon: How Green Buildings Can Meet Carbon Emissions Targets
As we move toward a carbon-constrained future, Mr. Mueller believes the conversation surrounding building design and retrofitting should move from ‘energy efficiency’ to ‘zero carbon.’

This keynote seminar will look at 16 pilot projects, representing different building types, sizes, and locations, which will achieve the Zero Carbon Certification, and are poised to become the next cycle of innovation in Canadian green building.
